Justin started in mortgages, banking and land acquisitions in the U.S. in his early twenties. After the 2008 crash he moved to Indonesia, and spent the next decade learning how property investment can actually work for foreign investors in Indonesia, and how to stay legally compliant under the new regulations in each regency.
Jakarta contacts put Sumba on his radar more than ten years ago, just as the government began upgrading the island's roads. He has worked on the island ever since, often for months at a time, in villages, alongside government offices and on the coast.
All advice on Sumba Guide comes from his experience on the ground: the places and beaches he has visited, the villages he has personally worked with to resolve issues, and his direct dealings with government departments to understand the current regulations and how solutions can be found.
